IELTS is a major assessment of English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by five leading examination and assessment bodies: British Council, the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), IDP Education Australia, IELTS Australia and the University of Malta. It assesses the four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – at both the lowest Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels and above.
